Frequently Asked Questions

The premise of biblical counseling is that people are not just “problems” or defined by a “diagnosis”. Biblical counseling is a form of counseling that uses the Bible as its primary source of truth and guidance, focusing on spiritual and emotional well-being through the application of biblical principles. 

We do not engage in psychotherapy or identify as psychotherapists; rather we employ a method of counseling using biblical principles. We engage deeply, energetically, and passionately with people and use our training, intellect, empathy, and personal experiences in our sessions.

The initial meeting, known as the intake session, is 90 minutes in length. This extended time provides you with the opportunity to complete the necessary forms and ask any questions you might have. We will also explore any relevant history you wish to share and discuss your current situation.

Following the initial meeting, each subsequent session will be 50 minutes in length and begin on the hour. This constitutes a one hour session. Ideally, sessions will be once a week to start. Frequency is usually determined by your situation, availability, and budget.

Grace Flourishing, LLC upholds strict confidentiality and adheres to the American Association of Christian Counselors code of ethics. The confidentiality of your visits and discussions will not be disclosed without your consent. There are three circumstances that require breach of this confidentiality: 1) in instances where there is imminent danger of serious harm to yourself or others; 2) in instances involving physical and/or sexual abuse of children or endangered adults; and 3) where otherwise requested by subpoena or mandated by court order or state/federal law. 

A variety of Scripture reading and study material will be given to aid you further into God’s truth and your life in Christ for lasting change. The issues you are seeking to change may have been part of your life for a long time, so for meaningful and lasting transformation to occur, your dedication to doing the work outside of sessions is essential for your success. We understand that life happens, although attendance at all scheduled sessions is important for growth and change.  

We are unable to prescribe medication or give you a formal mental health diagnosis. If you feel you require medication or need a diagnosis, we advise speaking with your primary care physician who can discuss what options are available or provide referrals for a psychiatrist.

The initial 15 minute phone consultation is free. 

Our standard rate is $95 per 50-minute session. 

Grace Flourishing is private pay only. We do not work with any third-party insurance, provide diagnostic codes for reimbursement, or accept HSA/FSA. All fees are due prior to each appointment and subject to our cancellation policy. 

It's our desire to provide affordable counseling services to all in need, and never turn individuals away due to financial concerns. Due to the this, we have a sliding scale available on a limited basis. 

We ask for 24 hour notice for cancellations to allow your time to be given to another person in need. There is a $25 cancellation fee if you fail to contact us or show for an appointment. Session fees paid will not be refunded or be applied towards any rescheduled or future appointments.

Grace Flourishing is not equipped for emergency crisis care. The traditional recommendations for suicidal clients involve psychiatric/psychological care and/or inpatient help. We encourage those in crisis to call or text 988 for the national mental health hotline or call 911.
