Frequently Asked Questions

The premise of biblical counseling is that people are not just “problems” or defined by a “diagnosis”. Biblical counseling is a form of counseling that uses the Bible as its primary source of truth and guidance, focusing on spiritual and emotional well-being through the application of biblical principles.

Our biblical counselors do not engage in psychotherapy or identify as psychotherapists; rather they employ a method of counseling using Biblical principles. We do not necessarily look at secular standards for qualifications since we offer spiritual, Christ-focused counseling. Feel free to ask about your biblical counselor’s background and experience.

Our staff adhere to a professional code of ethics. The confidentiality of your visits and discussions are protected by standards of ethical practice, with the exception of two requirements by law: 1) the law requires that we notify the proper authorities if the intent to harm self or others is expressed by a counselee, and 2) we are obligated to report any instance of child abuse, neglect, or molestation.

Counseling sessions are 50 minutes in length and scheduled by the hour. This constitutes one hour of counseling. Ideally, sessios will be once a week to start. Sessions can be shortened to bi-weekly or monthly later in the counseling process. Frequency is usually determined by counselee's situation, availability, and budget.

We offer 25 minute virtual appointments for current Grace Flourishing counselees in need of additional time between in-person sessions. Sessions are scheduled on the half hour and constitute as 30 minute appointments.

A variety of scripture reading and study material will be given to aid you further into God’s truth and your life in Christ for lasting change. We understand that life happens, although attendance at all scheduled sessions is important for growth and change.

We do not prescribe medication. If you feel you require medication, we advise speaking with your primary care physician first who can discuss what options are available or if you need a referral to a psychiatrist.

We do not work with any third-party insurance, provide diagnostic codes for reimbursement, or accept HSA/FSA.

We accept cash, Venmo, or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).

At Grace Flourishing, it's our desire to provide affordable counseling services to all in need, and never turn individuals away due to financial concerns. Due to the this, we have a sliding scale available on a limited basis. Please contact us for more information.

We ask for 24 hour notice for cancellations to allow your time to be given to another counselee in need. There is a $25 cancellation fee if you fail to contact the office or show for an appointment. Session fees paid will not be refunded or be applied towards any rescheduled or future appointments.

Our counselors are not equipped for emergency crisis care. The traditional recommendations for suicidal clients involve psychiatric/psychological care and/or inpatient help. We encourage those in crisis to call or text 988 for the national mental health hotline or call 911.
